BTS: Top Gear
My first blog in what should hopefully become an interesting series for you, looking at life Behind The Scenes working as a PR Manager at Lotus Cars.
I am going to start with a big one and one of the top highlights from the year - Top Gear. Chris Harris has a favourite F1 car, it is the ground effect Lotus Type 79. The car that propelled Mario Andretti to his world championship title in 1978, a car that redefined aerodynamics in F1, a car the competition just couldn’t beat.

Classic Team Lotus still run these cars, they don’t keep them locked away, they don’t keep them in a museum. Classic Team Lotus is a working racing team. Clive Chapman is the son of you know who, Chris Dinnage was Senna’s lead mechanic and they treat this car like a race car. They also let Chris Harris drive it on our track at Hethel for what was arguably the best piece of Top Gear in the last series.
Whenever I get the chance, and production teams will let me, I document events at Hethel for the future. Below are my images from that day with the Top Gear production team and Chris Harris Driving a Lotus 79.
